Paul Cherry’s transformation continues on “Like Yesterday”

Chicago native Paul Cherewick is a product of the garage rock era but has spent the last couple years modifying his sound with a stark influence of low-fi bedroom pop.

“Like Yesterday” is his latest single set to be a part of his upcoming EP. The song uses influences from vintage pop and pop rock, with the vocals stylised to lack clarity, resembling that of the bedroom pop sound. It is a positive tune for a song with a sad narrative: the words “I’m lost and so alone” repeated, supported by “writing songs that don’t make sense/that have no end”.

Despite the negative emotion the song still stands as a positive, happy sonic experience for the listener and is an exciting move for Paul ahead of his first EP release in almost four years.
